Developing competences of adult educators to support the employment of persons with mental disabilities
Erasmus+ KA204 Strategic Partnerships for adult education 5 partners from 4 countries (Italy, Cyprus, Romania, Slovenia) Duration: 28 months (1st Sep 2019 to 31st Dec 2021) Outcome: Open Educational Resources (OER) for adult education professionals
The project in a nutshell
WORKABLE provides a specific and comprehensive training programme and resources for Job Coaches who work with people with intellectual disabilities, helping them to be integrated into working life and to be an active part of the production world.
A Person with Mental Disabilities (PMD) is a PERSON and a WORKER, who needs tailored and effective support to gain autonomy and self-confidence to enter the ordinary labour market. Job Coaches must be specifically trained to provide that support with a strong job-oriented approach.
PROJECT OBJECTIVESOur objectives are:
Develop training modules and resources addressed to adult educators/mentors, coaches, and people working in the field of support to people with intellectual disabilities in “Job coaching for people with mental disabilities”.
Pilot test training sessions for Job Coaches with the support of a game platform that offers the training modules embedded in a gaming path to increase motivation and engagement of users.
1. workABLE Platform
An online platform that uses a game-based approach to engage and motivate users to follow a training path to acquire the skills necessary for a professional Job Coach, who supports the introduction of PMDs into work.
The platform provides access to training materials on 5 areas:
- Module 1 Design of services to accompany PMD to autonomy
- Module 2 How to approach and deal with PMD
- Module 3 Design of tailored job-oriented and tasks-based trainings
- Module 4 Relations with employers and labour market
- Module 5 Social Entrepreneurship: Help the development of PMD- driven social enterprises
A mobile app connected to the platform helps Job Coaches to create, manage, and validate a specific action plan for the PMD in the workplace
2. workABLE Handbook
The Handbook contains the result of research and analysis conducted during the project in the field of Job Coaching and Individual Placement Support for PMD and connected topics, developed into a comparative analysis of the national contexts in order to define a European context.
- Legislative framework
- National contexts of the partners

- Step by step guide to implement an Individual Placement Support
- Case studies and best practices in the participating countries
